I just learned this unit exists in Athens, Georgia still in full Chessie paint. Last used on the Great Walton and Hartwell railroad in 2011 from what I can find. Seems the unit has mechanical and structural issues but no confirmation if it's true or not. Currently left on a siding rusting away. Anyone know anything about this unit?

Here's a link to some shots of it http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/LocoPi ... x?id=53111

Full disclosure: Im going to deviate from your thread here. Anyways, the Heartwell Railroad seems to be a honey hole for never rebuilt and never repainted motive power, as in addition to B&O 6525, they also own the only surviving RF&P diesel locomotive in original RF&P paint!!!! This is Richmond Fredericksburg & Potomac GP35 #136.

Not a problem, they have quite a bit of interesting mix of motive power in original paint! I never knew this railroad existed until shortly.

There's a comment with one of the pics of the B&LE SD7 in original paint that they won't spend any money on paint. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... id=2332331

My guess is they buy them second and third hand and run them into the ground .......... and then some until they're good for parts only or scrap

Having watched locomotive costs for years, this is a surprisingly viable business plan!

Well, sort of. The rear ~1/4 of 136's carbody is from a scrapped Georgia Northeastern locomotive.

Does anyone know if this locomotive still exists, and if so, what are the issues with it?
