The Snoqualmie Falls Historic Area Museum is open for a brief trial this month on weekends through Labor Day; more information and times are on the Northwest Railway Museum blog: http://trainmuseum.blogspot.com/2014/08/snoqualmie-falls-historic-area-museum.html

The Museum is owned by Puget Sound Energy and the Northwest Railway Museum is facilitating tours this month only. Exhibits are in the Snoqualmie Falls train station and the 1898 carpenter shop, which is now located next to the train station.

I know a few of the readers of this board are a little thrifty so take note of the free tours we are offering that depart from the Upper Plaza in the Snoqualmie Falls Park. For those that want the experience of getting off the train at the Snoqualmie Falls Depot, tickets are $20 and can be purchase in advance through the link in the blog. (FYI, it took a lot of effort to arrange the opportunity to stop the train and let people off. We hope this will be possible in the future but this is only a trial. If operational problems are encountered or the risk management people are unhappy it may not be possible again.)

There are several connections to railroad history -
-The engineer who designed the Seattle Lake Shore and Eastern Railway was Charles Baker. He saw the potential of Snoqualmie Falls (pun intended) and in 1898 developed it into the world's first underground power station.
-Generator 5 was taken out of service in 2011 and is now on display at the museum. It was originally used exclusively to generate power for the Puget Sound Electric Railway and the Seattle Electric Railway with a separate power buss and an independent transmission line all the way to Seattle.
