#77030 GTW Grand Trunk Western 1895 Wooden Sided Caboose all restored!!!
This is a full sized caboose that we acquired in 2012 and restored to it's former glory! What a great place to hang out and talk trains or set your model railroad up in!! The items shown that are on the walls or floors of the caboose (except the 2 lighting lamps and the main lamp in cupola) and items not fastened to the caboose (such as railroad lanterns, pictures, or any other piece of railroadiana being displayed in the pictures) are not included in this auction or in the sale of the rail car. The track section with railroad ties is included. We do have all of the doors (exterior and interior cabinet) to the caboose which are included in the sale.

Most of the caboose is original. The wood that was replaced is the following: one of the exterior 1 x 6 pieces along the bottom is new, some of the roof trim, the interior 4 x 4 area on the wall where the kerosene had saturated the wood, the cupola side deck and steps were replaced, and the other side deck steps are new. The cupola was removed for transit, so there is a trim piece on the interior to cover the separation. The entire outside has been caulked, sealed, & painted. The roof is all original but has a few patches fixed. If you are thinking of putting the caboose outside, you would want to seal the roof. I have the original windows, doors, screens, pull down cot, smoke stack, & many miscellaneous pieces, curtain rods, etc. of you would like more pics, please let me know.

Due to size and weight, shipping, moving, transportation or any costs associated with rigging, jacking up, movement within our facility and/or removal and transport from our facility is the sole responsibility of the purchaser. Please ask any and all questions and I would be more than happy to answer your questions or send more pictures. This caboose can be seen in person at our retail location. Roadside Attractions is located in Metamora, MI. Thanks for looking!!

Was watching the TV news on WGN in Chicago this morning and saw an ad for the Volo Auto Museum in Volo, Illinois. One thing pictured as part of the ad was this Grand Trunk Western caboose. It was shown under cover so couldn't see the roof to see that the cupola was still on it, but the car appeared in excellent shape. Found this old thread about it being offered for sale on E-bay so thought I would post this follow up so that folks who are interested, might know where GTW # 77030 ended up.

Starting at 38:45, it is definitely 77030:

Volo is in the same general area as IRM, even though it is in the area code I grew up in, 815 (albeit 130 miles away), I had never heard of the museum though it says it is the largest auto museum in North America, I noticed a Tucker and a Cord among others.

It's been for sale for a while apparently not going anywhere fast.

I started the clip at the museum at 38:00, the narrator quoted 200k for a "Duck" (amphibious truck) that go for under 100k restored, and 500k for a "Seep" (amphibious Ford GPA Jeep) that do well under 200k restored, so I wonder what this guy paid for the caboose?
