I'm not affiliated, but grew up near this Loco's location, and have a fondness for 4-6-0s.

The Organization are terrible spellers, but seem to have made a lot of progress in recent years.

Their most recent facebook update:
"I do apologize for not sending updates of progress on 1364 as much as I would like. Putting a locomotive together after it being apart for now almost 39 years, and being moved in pieces twice, has been very time consuming. I will work on giving updates more often.

As of now, the running gear is together and ready. The air system has been all finished and tested, but had to be partially taken apart for the purpose of the pending boiler inspection. The FRA form 4 has been started and most of the calculations are done. We had to take some metal samples of the boiler to be tested to better determine the safe working pressure of the boiler. In going through the calculations, 2 braces on the front flue sheet needed replaced. We are in process of that now, along with the final cleaning and preparations for tube installation. Once the braces are installed, then the boiler tubes are planed to go in, and then the hydro test can be done. After the hydro test, we will be able to get a better idea on future time frame, as to what stay bolts may need to be replaced, if any.

The tender tank is attached to the frame and water outlets reinstalled. The rear headlight bracket, class light brackets, tool box, and oil tank, are not yet completed.

As with any project like this, money needs to be involved. As of right now, it looks like that we are in need of about 6 to 9 thousand dollars to complete this project. The NPRHA may be able to help, but not sure on the timing and amount of money that might be available. Other funding sources are being explored, but donations are always welcome. Please send checks to Yakima Valley Rail and Steam Museum Association P.O. Box 889, Toppenish, WA 98948 if you so want to donate, and note on it 1364

It is my hope that in this year of 1364's 60th anniversary of its retirement we can make it a memorable and exciting time for all involved in the history of this locomotive and the history of the Northern Pacific

We do have our first work history weekend of this year, on April 11-13. Diner provided Sat evening.

Any questions and comments please don't hesitate to write me.
Or if you know of someone that wants these updates, please pass it on.

I agree, if someone can step in and help with the grammar/spelling and spruce up that fundraising page - $6,000 - $9,000 is not an insurmountable amount of money to raise to finish up a project. Good luck!

I just saw this get posted recently. Apparently, the photos are from around 2 years ago (which show some good work being done). If the work has been progressing as well as it sounds like it has, #1364 might be operational in the near future. If this is true, this could be very exciting.

Direct link to the crowdfunding campaign (apparently several years old without promotion) earmarked for this locomotive:

https://www.crowdrise.com/NorthernPacific1364

Perhaps someone can check how these funds are being 'stewarded' and start passing the word to get folks to donate, if the campaign is run correctly. Much easier for some people, including me, than making up a check and sending it snail-mail.

I took them up to $100. Who might be interested in the question they ask about the first number that has an "a" in it? ;-}
