The 765 will return to the Valley this September.

The locomotive will operate a variety of different excursions with open window coaches and dome cars, with photo runbys, entertainment, and more. The open window cars are former Nickel Plate Road passenger cars used in the 1984 film "The Natural."

The locomotive will operate September 7th, 8th, 14th, and 15th on a 2-hour trips, a BBQ picnic train, night photo session, and more.

Additional trips this fall are TBD, so stay tuned.

Thanks for the heads-up Kelly. The Natural was released in 1984, but filmed in late Summer 1983 in the Buffalo area. The railroad scenes with GTW 4070 and the cars owned by what is now Midwest Railway Preservation Society were filmed at South Dayton, NY. The cars in question for Steam in the Valley would be ex NKP coaches #62 and #90, the last remaining NKP heavy-weight cars. Both are now open-window cars, but 90 used to be a sealed window early air conditioned car. During the early years of the Cuyahoga Valley Line with battery power and Spicer Drives, it was hard to generate enough electricity to keep the AC working in the 90, so it became a cooler weather use only car. No. 62 has cloth rotating seats and 90 has wicker walk-over seats. Supposedly, at least one scene with Robert Redford was filmed in the 62.
