I was wondering about these two SDP45s.

6670 is shown as being at the VMoT, but at last report it was on the deaccession list along with many other things in Roanoke Yard. (I assume everything in that yard is on the deaccession list as units such as an SD9 also in storage in the yard were sold off.)

6694 on the other hand is shown as being at RDMI Pittston in Duryea,PA in derelict condition, being in static storage for the last decade if not longer. Last photo of it I could find is dated from March, 14th 2010, almost three years ago. Was this scrapped?

Now, my question is, has any historical society (CRHS,ELDCPS,ARHS,etc.) taken interest in the preservation of any of these units? I know current economic conditions and such would probably discourage any of the societies from getting anything big these days, but it is still a topic I would like to gain information on.

Thank you for your responses. Save for a maybe extant UP SD40M-2,(Most upon last report are layed up in storage in Sterling,Illinois) I don't think there are many late EL EMDs Save for the one SDP45 in Roanoke(Last existant SDP45 in original configuration?) The one SD45 at NMoT, and 11 SD45-2s, all rebuilt to SD40-2s in a SD45-2 carbody.(I assume OCHR scrapped the last SD45-2 In original configuration)

SDP45s
1 In original Configuration
7 Rebuilt on UP to SD40M-2s
1 on HCLX(Possibly scrapped)

SD45s
1 SD45 as NS 1000 at last report. Juniata Testbed
1 SD45 at NMoT

SD45-2s
6 On NS
5 On CSXT

Thanks for the information so far and I welcome more information about any Ex EL late era EMDs that you know of.
