Where in its life did it gain the number 382 ?? Presumably the same place that fitted the current numberboards and headlight? Attachment: r13-1436.jpg [ 144.07 KiB | Viewed 85572 times ] It doesn't appear to have deteriorated too much since I took this photo at Silver Lake back in September 2013. |

According to the caption on this photo http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... id=3669224 "Now part of the Silver Lake Railroad's locomotive collection, this tiny Plymouth was originally built in 1939 for the Stewartstown Railroad in Pennsylvania as their number 6. Nicknamed Little Mo, it worked in freight service on the line between Stewartstown and New Freedom until sale to the Wolfeboro Railroad of New Hampshire. The headlight is from a steam locomotive, acquired during the time the locomotive was displayed at the Edaville Railroad." One might assume that the headlight and number #382 came off of a steam locomotive that had been scrapped, because the headlight would be too important to an existing engine. |

IC #382, ten wheeler that Casey Jones wrecked.... On another note, Doyle Mc Cormack told me that "A locomotive either needs to be big enough to earn it's keep, or small enough to fit in your garage". He didn't say anything about it fitting through the door to the garage... |

I, also, couldn’t find any reference to the #382 except for the Casey Jones example. Most of the things that were changed at Edaville will be coming off. I want it to look like Little Mo again. Edaville added a straight exhaust stack that was about twice as tall as it is now, hand rails that don’t let the hood doors open, the headlights, the bell mount, and sun visors over the windows. I’ll keep the sun visors, they are very well constructed and look nice. The paint scheme will be a hybrid of the two paint jobs it had at STRT. Will be a similar look as #9, Might Mo’s paint. Thanks Big Jim!lol. It does make my garage look small. I’m in the process of walking the track sideways so I can use the door again. Had to have it out in front to line up with the delivery truck. I’ll keep posting pics here as I chip away at the long list. |

Here are some pics from today. Have the air tanks, air cylinders, and most of the cab floor removed . Will rebuild the floor and air cylinders. Need to drill and Hydro Test the air tanks. Then start putting everything back together.

SRR had a second (older) engine house that collapsed sometime after the Hart years, I wonder if any thought has been put into rebuilding it, it would come in handy for this unit. |

That would be a perfect spot for another small engine house. The problem is that the switch and most of the rail for that spur have been removed. Would be a lot of work and another crossing of Rt 851 to rebuild it. I wish it was still there. |

They did and around 2012 to 2013nthe remains were cleaned up. With possible steam engine parts found also a ton of beer. And liquor bottles if memore serves |

He only agreed to sell to me, because I’m restoring it to operation at the Stewartstown. I don’t think anything else is for sale. May pester him into selling me another Locomotive once this one is done. We’ll see what the future holds. |

Does Plymouth 6 have a similar mechanical transmission like 9? I got to inspect 9 and was astounded at the mechanical transmission (4 speed?) with a clutch pedal with about a 12" vertical throw and nearly took all your weight to hold down. Other than the two-speed drive in a Climax A that's the darndest engine-to-wheels system I've personally seen in a locomotive. The fact that 9 still runs with that LeRoi gas engine is just amazing, even if you have little respect for critters it's a pretty notable piece of equipment. |
