dose the n&w 611 has a welded boiler because it has a welded firebox so it would be logical for it to have one.thank you

No, it is riveted. Fireboxes (interior portion) are welded on most locomotives that have had any work of substance done on them after the mid-1920's. Exterior portions are usually riveted at the joint of the backhead and roof/outer side sheets, and the joints between the first coarse and combustion chamber (if present) or throat and roof sheets. Sometimes there will be riveted joints at the roof and outer side sheets, especially on wagon-top style narrow fireboxes. Both welded and riveted fireboxes (inner and outer) are usually riveted to the mud ring around the bottom.

Best,
Mike
