 Post subject: Park loco's in danger...a followup.

As a followup to the well preserved locos question I posted below, perhaps it would be worthwhile to list park locos that are neglected and vandalized to the point where their futures are seriously in doubt. This might alert railfan groups to purchase or rescue or adopt a park loco before the ignorant simply cut them up.<br>I would raise the fate of the C&O Kanawha in Lynchburg, Virginia as a locomotive that needs immediate adoption.<br>Others....please!<br><br>

The ex SP 0-6-0 1238 in Fresno Ca. is one of the worst ones I've seen out here. I don't think it has ever been painted since its been donated, most every thing of any value is gone, and the smoke box front is actually rusted thru in a few spots.<br>

Unfortunately, like many other display locomotives, vocal individuals from the community have hindered preservation proposals made toward this particular locomotive. In addition the basic cosmetic work, the display track has been undermined by ground squirrels.<p><br>
