The gray on the roof is General Motors WE5731. The yellow on the nose is GM WE5559 which is DuPont 421, a yellower Caterpillar yellows like the one we looked at many moons ago...

I haven't looked at the other yellow as of yet but it is lighter than the DuPont 6808 on the Reading model and I'm willing to bet it's an actual fleet color as well since all the others are.

Yeah, how could we forget now that 71703 Green is basically a very similar but slightly bluer version of 1317? LOL Here's a better picture of the lighter green match since it's the color we're primarily interested in at the moment. It could very easily be 1317 which had drifted toward blue...

With the AHM Reading models, there's always that chance they got their Oliver greens mixed up so since I had such good luck with the Old Oliver Green fence post and rusty truck bumper the last time around...

Uh oh, the Croydon Cream card turned white but like we often see in photos of Reading structures, it does that... LOL

Here, the structure does look white. Three out of four ain't too bad, however...

Since there were allegedly two different greens used on the cab units, I believe I still need to conduct additional behavioral studies on these alleged two different greens. LOL Here, WE5646 (1317) looks like Narva Green as opposed to WE5645 (6202) which, in comparison, looks more like Seacrest Green...

While I continue to attempt to discover what other mystical qualities DuPont 1317 Green may possess, why not do an update on C&O Federal Yellow?

No one in the railroad world will ever not know which color this is ever again... LOL

Yeah it does, Sammy. An exact match for General Motors WE5910, the DuPont stock number for this color in the Imron era is K9590...

Here's the big matchup. WE5909, the Brockway yellow, has since become DuPont 6561. The fleet paint chip catalog used in this shot is from 2007 so this isn't too bad for samples produced three-and-a-half decades apart from each other...

As for the other version of C&O Federal Yellow, General Motors WE5930, we had that color traced up to its usage as International Federal Yellow and Cub Cadet Yellow. According to this handy-dandy little chart, the DuPont Dulux equivalent is 93-27849...

Applied to Case equipment as well and in the Imron era as seen here on this eighties DuPont tractor and implement collection, this color later became DuPont 7378...

I believe we now have these two Federal Yellows properly separated but I can see the same sort of color confusion occurring with the Santa Fe since they're documented as using GM WE5910/DuPont 373 Yellow also.

Eventually, MTD bought the Cub Cadet brand name. Just to be sure, they have both versions of this color on their charts... LOL

I saw a Stanley Steemer ad on the boob tube last night. They use WE5930. That version of Federal Yellow seems to saturate very well on camera.

Good color pictures of C&O Venetian Yellow, which should be the same color as the Reading and Lackawanna Yellows, remain elusive. I did find this thread over on the OGR forum board concerning the BL-2's, however...

I don't know, but I would think mixing white into Armour or Apache Yellow might yield better results. LOL

Here are the 1975 Ditzler/PPG mixing formulae for Venetian Yellow and, as an additional added bonus, Lemon Yellow...

BTW, Amerada Hess uses Diamond Yellow as well. {wink, wink}

Anyway, back at the beginning of Page 66 we took a look at International Chesapeake Gray along with other similar grays in search of B&O gray. Also known as 1947 Buick Catalina Gray, this color is now listed on PaintRef as, no kidding, the Chesapeake and Ohio's gray...

1947 Buicks also used Dusty Gray so if I'd happen to post a really cool picture of a really cool car as an alternative example, we wouldn't be able to tell which of those two grays that might be... LOL
